The Isle of South Uist

Camping in South Uist

Title: Camping in South Uist
Posted by: Joanne Riach on 13-05-2013

Discussion: We'd love to visit the island this July, but all the self-catering houses we've enquired about are fully booked. We also like camping, but I'm a bit concerned about the wind coming off the Atlantic. The campsites look quite exposed.

Is camping a wise idea, bearing in mind the journey we have to get there? Plan B would be to book a house for next year, I think we've left it a bit late.

Hi Joanne. You will find that that campsites are well placed and fairly well sheltered. The Islands are exposed no matter where you go. Any one of the ones listed are a good bet. The one in South Uist is fairly sheltered.

I will PM you a house that I know of that is looking for bookings.
