Moving to Uist

Title: Moving to Uist
Posted by: claire ryan on 10-10-2012

Discussion: I hope you guys are able to help us out. We are newly married and are seriously thinking about moving to Uist/Benbecula/Eriskay to start our family life together.

Can you recommend where to look for Jobs, (I'm a dental nurse and hubby is an HGV driver) is there a local paper that we should be trying to get hold of or good websites to look at?

Any help/advice would be really great:)

Many thanks,
Claire Ryan

hi,looking some adventure by visiting Uist I was wondering if there was some casual labouring work that might be available,i am a skilled labourer with construction an demoltion background so I really don't mind what type of work that's on offer, worked on the west coast of Scotland before and fell in love with its celtic history and beauty,i always wanted to go back ,the isolation and friendly inviorment and slower pace really appeals to me,,if theres anyone can help with a few tips ,that would greatly appreciated, many thanks

MacAulays, Askernish Quarry or MacInnes bros may have work for an HGV driver. For you Claire, there may be employment at Liniclate Dental surgery or Lochboisdsle.

Hope that helps a bit.
