The Isle of South Uist

Bathymetrical Loch Survey

Title: Bathymetrical Loch Survey
Posted by: Stuart Busby on 02-01-2007

Discussion: I was fortunate to be passed on a useful web site address by an angling friend in South Uist. At www.nls.uk. If you go to the National Library of Scotland website and follow links to maps then Bathymetrical some wonderful old mapping of loch depths can be found. Many of the lochs on Benbecula, North & South Uist. These would I am sure be of some assisstance to keen anglers on the Isles. Until Google Earth updates its images and focuses in more detail on the Western Isles these maps give an intesting insite. I can only imagine the time people spent on this extensive excercise at the time! Happy New Year to all and any info regarding the fishing situation in Benbecula & South Uist this season would be greatly received. I am planning my weeks fishing this year sometime around late May or early June hopefully. This will be my eighth visit in as many years! Tight Lines...
