Best Cell Phone Coverage - Advice Solicited

Title: Best Cell Phone Coverage - Advice Solicited
Posted by: Terry Follmer on 10-07-2011

Discussion: Visiting S. Uist soon for a week (from U.S.) and want to buy PAYG cell phone upon arrival in Glasgow. Wondering which company provides best coverage in S. Uist? Vodafone seems to be best from what I can tell from web research. Any and all replies appreciated. What about internet access if we bring laptop; can we get a USB EVDO data card and with what company also? TIA.

I know this is a late posting but it may help others in the future.

O2 is definitely the best for a reception as I had no problem whatsoever whilst there 2007 & 2010.

However, my friend who was with me was with T-Mobile and could not get a reception at all the whole time we were there.

Wireless Internet is available free to non residents while dining/coffee at both Borrodale Hotel (Daliburgh) & Lochboisdale Hotel (Lochboisdale) & I have used both.

There may be other mobile networks which work & other venues with wireless internet but I can only advise from my own personal experience.

Anne Marie.
