I have heard of the Malcolm MacDonald who played for Celtic - something of a local hero in South Uist!

Hi Iain & James,

Not sure how well you both know the island but Boisdale is a promintent registration district which covers a wide area of the South part of South Uist so I would tend to assume that the birth in Boisdale of Malcolm in 1911 would be correct and hope this leads to a good ancestral trail.

Regards,

Anne Marie.

Career details for Malcolm MacDonald are given on www.thecelticwiki.com as Born: 26th October 1913
Died: 26 September 1999 Birthplace: South Uist
Signed: 19 March 1932 etc.

The Scotland.gov.uk website lists births marriages and deaths for all Scotland but there is no Malcolm MacDonald listed in Uist for that year although there is one in Boisdale 1911 and in Benbecula 1912. He might have been born somewhere else. The deasth certificate might be available. Hope this helps.

Hi James,

You may want to post the names of your parents and grandparents with females maiden names to make it easier to identify your family as Uist is full of MacDonalds.

Anne.
