wondering about moving to the W-Isles

Discussion: Hi. My husband and I are contemplating moving to the W-Isles (from the Borders) to live, work and raise a family. My husband is a hill shepherd and contract shearer and we are looking for not only a sizable croft but we kind of need to get a handle on whether there were opportunities for sheep work outside the croft, to bring in money and also would folk be receptive to outsiders looking for sheep work and trying to farm?
