The Isle of South Uist

Stewart-MacDonald abt 1810

Title: Stewart-MacDonald abt 1810
Posted by: Jim Petermann on 24-12-2008

Discussion: Sometime between 1800 and 1820 Iain Stiubhard and his wife Sarah MacDonald went to Cape Breton Island. They were Gaelic speaking Roman Catholics and settled among other emigrants from South Uist, so I have to assume they were from there.

For what it's worth, Sarah was known as "Red" Stewart because of her flaming hair color, which runs in several branches of our family to this day.

Thanks for any hints,
Jim Petermann
