Steel(e) / Cameron / McDonald Families - Late 1700s/early 1800s

Title: Steel(e) / Cameron / McDonald Families - Late 1700s/early 1800s
Posted by: Laura Smith on 25-08-2008

Discussion: Looking for information on my G-G-G-Grandfather, Donald Steel(e) who was married to Flora Cameron and is listed on the 1841 Census for Dalibrog as a "Police Assistant". 10 years later the family had moved to Glasgow.

As far as I know from his Death Certificate, his parents' names were John Steel(e) and Flora McDonald, both of South Uist.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has any more information on this branch of my family, and also if there is access to Church records on South Uist?

Many thanks in anticipation!

Laura Smith
