Walking

Discussion: Hello, I was thinking of visiting the islands at some point this year and was just wondering if there are any walking routes on the island?

Cheers, thanks for the suggestions! Just two more question, Is it possible to wild camp in the more remote areas of South Island for a night or two? I was also wondering whether there are any shooting dates? Ive been searching the net and Havent come across any for both S. and N. Uist.

Yes, some great walks. You don;t say which Islands you're planning on visiting but some of our favourites are the circular walk on Eriskay, there is a nice circular walk on N. Uist which takes you round to the Camera Obscura. Back on South Uist if you take the road out to South Lochboisdale and park at the end of the road, you can then follow a path up the hill to your right for stunning views over to Lochboisdale itself.

Two suggested purchases - the Ordanance Survey maps for the areas you're visiting, and once you get there pop into the tourist information office and get yourself a copy of the "western Isles walks" book. Worth every penny of its cover price!!
