Kennag MacRury (wife of Calum Gobha) Stilligarry 1877 - 1937

Title: Kennag MacRury (wife of Calum Gobha) Stilligarry 1877 - 1937

Discussion: I wonder if anyone can give me information on Kennag Macrury (nee Morrison). She was my grandfather's first cousin and was born in Eilean Leireabhagh, Lochmaddy c 1877. I learned from the 'San Fhuil' programme on BBC Alba that the Macrury's of Stilligarry were the blacksmiths for the district. Did Kennag have a family and are any of her descendants still living in the islands.

Hi Angie...

As Kannag was your g/father's 1st cousin, their parents would have been siblings, however, you don't name your g/parents which may help others to identify family.

This is the birth & marriage which are downloadable at scotlandspeople.gov.uk

MORRISON KENNETHINA 1877 - 113/ 70 North Uist

MORRISON KENNETHINA / MACRURY MALCOLM 1905 - 113/ 6 North Uist

The marriage will name both sets of parents, mothers maiden names, addresses & witnesses (who may be relatives)?

On the 1911 census Malcolm & Kennethina are at Howmore with 2 children...
Mary Christina 2 & Flora 0

Mary Christina is possibly the child who died aged 8 in 1917 Howmore?

Flora is possibly the lady who died aged 75 in 1985 Benbecula with an alternative surname MacLean which would tie in with this marriage I think?

MCRURY FLORA MORRISON / MACLEAN ANGUS MACDONALD 1930
564/2 125 Greenock West

Hope this helps.

A M
