Discussion: My grandmother's father was born in South Uist, John A. MacKinnon (Feb. 17, 1843). Her mother was born in Canada, Ann MacDonald (abt. 1853). Anne's parents were also born in South Uist. I believe all my great great grandparents lived their lives in South Uist: Neil B. MacKinnon m. Amelia MacPhearson and Ronald MacDonald m. Catherine McIntyre. John A. MacKinnon and Anne MacDonald had seven children and lived in Detroit, Michigan in the U.S. They were married in Detroit in 1880. I also am a citizen of the U.S. I would love to visit the isle soon.
