Discussion: Hello everyone
Through Ancestry.ca I've recently learned my third great-grandfather on my mom's side, Neil McGinnis (born 1806) and his wife Mary Ann McIntyre (born 1816) came to Canada in the mid 1800s from their birthplace North Boisdale, south Uist.
None of this information had ever been passed down to my age group and now I'm eager to learn anything about their roots in South Uist. The only item I ever heard from my grandmother was that the McGinnis family may have been from Ireland many years before South Uist.
I was wondering if there is a McGinnis family still living in the area and if there is still a connection.
