Discussion: I am looking for information on Alexander Mcmillan and his wife Mary Currie, they were my 3x grandparents, they lived, I believe in the parish of bornish, Alexander was born any 1798, and mary any 1800,I can't seem to get much further than this, so if anyone can help, I would be very grateful, I know there are many mcmillans in south uist , and a few curries too
MARY CURRIES father may have been Alan currie, and her mother's name may have been Marion, thankyou |

Hi Ann Marie, I know this reply is very late, about 9 months, simply because I had given up about a reply, I have since found mary curries death certificate, she died in south uist in 1855 {February} and it states her father as Donald currie and her mother as peggy macquarrie, I don have further info on any siblings as I'm struggling to find records, it was her son, john McMillan { 3x grandfather} who moved to perth , Scotland, but I know a few of her sons went to austrailia, she also had a daughter Catherine |

Hi Duncan,
Can you please give us the names & circa dates of any children born to the couple?
Have you managed to locate the family on any census records? If so, this will give you a time frame of their deaths which hopefully was after 1855 (statutory registration) which would give the names of both parents including mothers maiden name provided the informants of the deaths knew those details.

Hi Duncan,
Have you found the family on any census records? If so you can conclude a circa date of death from there.
The death cert. will most likely give parents names if the informant knew those details.
Can you post some more info. please with names & dates of children born to Alexander & Mary as I may be able to help further.
