Discussion: John Clarkson and Janet Chambers Clarkson left South Uist on the Lulan in 1848 landing in Nova Scotia, he was a miner. Any information about their life/family in South Uist would be appreciated.

Hi Patsy,

It appears that John Clarkson & Janet Chambers just happened to be aboard the Lulan with the Uist folk who boarded at Glasgow?

They appear to have come from Lanarkshire where they married in 1848 & kids were born Sydney Mines, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia:

Hope this helps with your research?

Anne Marie.
