Discussion: Have been wondering whether or not to make this post for quite some time - but here goes! I am a florist bases in South Uist but delivering throughout the areas mentioned above. It's coming up to Mother's Day and I have received orders through some of the on-line florists. I just wonder of folk are aware that many of these sites take a commission (rightly so) but that impacts on the amount of money actually being spent on the flowers (i.e. if you order a bouquet for £30 I will be asked to provide one for less than that amount).
With the best will in the world I cannot deliver to Berneray or Barra for the same price as a city centre florist can deliver across town. When told of delivery prices they go back to customers saying that they cannot deliver in this area. I cannot guarantee it to be the case, but I suspect this is because they feel they cannot absorb the delivery charge and their commission. It must be disappointing to folk to be told that their is no available delivery when it is in fact possible.
