Hi Norry,
I have used 3 of your quotes here to explain my discrepency (maybe the wrong word) with Catherine's mother's name. I think her father may have been married a 2nd time to Euphemia?
(1) "Donald Cameron/Mary McCormick. They had at least 1 child Catherine Cameron b 1823 who married in 1847"
Of the 3 census info. for 1841 (which I posted) only one has Mary as wife but can be ruled out as he was a Teacher not a Crofter. The other 2 wives were Euphemia & Marrgaret. I believe Euphemia to be Donald’s 2nd wife.
(2) "as far as I know they came from Bornish"
The census with Euphemia as wife was taken in Bornish. There is also a Mary who was born before Catherine !!!
There are 3 other kids who were born to Donald & Euphemia/Henrica Campbell in Bornish.
John, bapt 18 Mar 1827
Duncan, bap 28 Aug 1829
Donald b 14 Dec 1831, bap 15 Dec 1831
That family emigrated from (Upper) Bornish 1840’s to West William Township, Middlesex County, Ontario
(3) "Donald was a crofter"
The Donald on the 1841 Bornish census was a Crofter.
The links below seem to be that said family so you may be able to order death certs?
Death of a Donald Cameron 15 Nov 1871 East Williams, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada born c1798 S/Uist (a possible fit)

Death of a John Cameron 30 Dec 1892 Williams, Middlesex, Ontario born c1829 S/Uist (a possible fit for Donald's son)

Hope this is of some use.
