Discussion: My father was born in1887 in Rhugaisinish. His name was Donald Macfarlane and his parents were James Macfarlane and Lily Nicolson, His mother died 1n approx. 1896 and he was farmed out to friends in Edinbane in Skye. Does anyone have any knowledge of the previous generations

Looks like Ian has already got an answer to the query, judging by the posts in http://westernisles.wordpress.com/emigration/ yesterday

There is also a good bit of interesting correspondence on this site http://westernisles.wordpress.com/emigration/ and you will no doubt get a good deal of help from Donald MacFarlane who hosts http://www.scotlandgenweb.org/westernisles/index.html

Hi Iain,

I have a fair amount of the previous generations on my family tree. Send me a pm through the site and I'll send what I've got.

Best regards,

Iain
