Description

Located on the beautiful island of North Uist which featured in the BBC programme - Monty Halls' Great Hebridean Escape, our self catering bungalow is available throughout the year.

North Uist is a stunning blend of beaches, machair land and moorland interrupted by freshwater lochs. The Island is 13 miles north to south and takes roughly around 45 minutes to travel around the whole Island.

To the west, the Monach Isles and St Kilda then next stop Canada and America. To the north, the islands of Lewis and Harris. To the south , the islands of Benbecula, South Uist, Eriskay and Barra. Finally to the east, the rugged hills and mountains of the Isle of Skye.

Parkhill is a large modern bungalow built in 1984 and is located on the main route from Lochmaddy to Benbecula and an ideal base for your holiday. The bungalow is equipped with oil fired central heating throughout

The 3 bedroom bungalow takes advantage of its elevated position to take in the view of the vast expanse of sea shore seperating North Uist from the island of Baleshare with the Monach Isles visable on a clear day, and at night the reassuring light from the Monach Isles light house can easily be seen from the kitchen window.

The accommodation comprises of the following:

Rear entrance hall containing automatic washing machine and separate tumble dryer. This leads onto the utility room which contains the chest freezer and ample storage space.

The large family kitchen is the heart of the house, where you tend to spend the majority of the day when indoors.
The kitchen contains a large dining table, electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge and television as well as numerous fitted kitchen units.

Large front entrance hall leading to the lounge and three bedrooms, one double, one twin and one single all newly refurbished with views over the moorland and lochs with Eaval in the distance.

Family bathroom with bath and separate shower unit.

Large lounge to the front with fantastic views over to Baleshare and Benbecula and on a clear evening views of the lighthouse on the Monach Isles. There is a TV, DVD and selection of children's DVDS and also books of local interest.

Parkhill Self Catering is located on the main road between Lochmaddy and Benbecula and an ideal base for walkers, cyclists and fishermen with many freshwater and sea lochs nearby.

There are many interesting places to visit including, Trinity Temple in Carinish about a mile from Parkhill and Barpa Langass; Uist Outdoor Centre in Lochmaddy; Taigh Chearsabhagh Arts Centre, Museum, cafe and gift shop also in Lochmaddy. Kirkibost cafe is around 1 mile from the property and has internet access facilities. Also nearby is the Hebridean Smokehouse which produces smoked salmon. It has a viewing gallery and gift shop. There is also a general store and post office at the Clachan junction one mile away.

The Uist Community Riding School is based in Benbecula and caters for all ages and abilities. There is also a 9 hole golf club near to the airport at Benbecula with an 18 hole course at Askernish in South Uist.

There are also many beautiful beaches a favourite being hosta (photo below) which is on the west side of the island with miles of unspoilt white sand beaches for everyone to enjoy.

If you are lucky you may see red deer from your bedroom window as North Uist has a resident herd of red deer who are often coming to lower ground for grazing and are often seen around Parkhill.

Ample parking is available.
