Description
This recently renovated thatched cottage offers traditional and comfortable self catering accommodation for 2 to 4 people in the crofting township of Balivanich.

The Cottage was originally built in 1880 and great care has been taken to maintain its original features such as an exposed stone wall, re-claimed flooring and exposed rafters. It is however sympathetically furnished with everything required for your stay.

Its location in the centre of Benbecula allows easy access to beaches, lochs, walks and local facilities including a 9 hole golf course. It is also an ideal central base for exploring the surrounding islands of North Uist, Berneray, South Uist and Eriskay which also offer an abundance of local history and bird life including the illusive corncrake and many other species of birds such as golden eagles, sea eagles and hen harriers.

Living Area

The open plan living space is larger than most thatched cottages and is comfortably furnished to a high standard. It offers a solid fuel stove, Sky TV (plus), Broadband internet connection and an Xbox games console with a selection of games.

Kitchen Area

Adjoining the living room the kitchen is fitted with a fan assisted oven and hob, washer/dryer, microwave oven as well as all the necessary crockery and utensils required. A drop-leaf table allows increased floor space when not in use. Also provided are: Iron and board, clothes airer, vacuum cleaner etc

Bedroom

The bedroom is tastefully decorated and is fitted with traditional pine furniture including a double bed, bedside tables and a tall boy wardrobe.

Attic

There is further sleeping accommodation for 2 people in the attic which is accessed by a ladder

Bathroom

The bathroom has been traditionally decorated and comprises of a white bathroom suite and electric shower.

Heating

Heating and hot water are operated by an electric boiler system which provides constant hot water in the kitchen and bathroom.

Smoking

Non smoking is preferred; however a cleaning charge will be applied if guests wish to do so.

Pets

Pets are welcome although a cleaning charge will also be applied.

Dog owners please note; The cottage is situated on a working croft which houses livestock and poultry. Please supervise dogs suitably.

What our guests say....
"Stunning and quite 'magical'. Having seen the ruined cottage, we cant believe the transformation -PERFECT! Made to feel very welcome by Niall. We will be back as soon as we can." - D and M Murchison, Glasgow
"Having lived here 35 years ago and known the cottage as it was then, we are overwhelmed with the quality of the transformation. Niall has captured the charm of the Islands and reflected them in this wonderful space. We were thrilled with it." - Eileen & Geoffrey Miller, Devon
