Discussion: Hi, I was just wondering my grandfather was called Euan MacDonald and lived in South Uist, he passed about 1995 he married Margaret (i'm unsure of her last name) who has also passed about 2010 they were roughly born in the 1920/30s they moved to Glasgow, I was just wondering if anybody knew them or if they had siblings, I would love to hear from any relative or anyone with any information.

Hi Heather,

You would find both your grandparent's names & maiden name with marriage date & place on your father's birth cert. which can be ordered through New Register House (Edinburgh).

They hold records all BMD's in Scotland (Births, Marriages & Deaths) .................0131 314 4411 providing you know your father's date & place of birth.

Priced around £12.00 but worth it as it's the 1st step of your genealogy ladder the root of your tree :-)

Once you have that, if you pay by debit card you can then ask for a copy of that marriage cert. (same price) as per the details on the birth cert. i.e. killing 2 birds with 1 stone.

Once you have the marriage cert. both of their parent's will be on it & you can come back with more questions but at the moment there is little to go on unless you can name the area in which Euan lived?
