Uist Digitisation Centreby Uist Digitisation Centre [viewed 1477 times]
| The Uist Digitisation Centre evolved out of the Tobar an Dualchais project, www.tobarandualchais.co.uk, which was set up to digitise, catalogue and make available on-line more than 12,000 hours of recordings in Gaelic and Scots from the collections of the School of Scottish Studies, National Trust for Scotland and BBC Scotland.
Following on from the experience gained TAD developed the Uist Digitisation Centre as a commercial enterprise. It is now one of the largest UK audio operations providing professional digitising services.
Audio collections from many prestigious institutions including BBC Maida Vale, National Museums Scotland and Manx National Heritage have been transferred from analogue to digital. In addition to these the centre has also processed small and private collections.
The centre is equipped to the highest standard and provides fireproof and waterproof storage for tapes and discs while held on-site. The staff are highly skilled, experienced in handling archival and heritage assets and providing professional digital reproduction and restoration of audio.
Every effort is made to provide faithful reproduction of audio with all files supplied up to archival standard.
