The Isle of South Uist

South Uist sailing-types wanted

Title: South Uist sailing-types wanted
Posted by: Western Isles Sailing on 28-03-2013

Discussion: We're looking to locate anyone in South Uist who's interested in sailing or windsurfing with a view to developing the sport in South Uist.

We are aware that a sailing club previously existed in Lochboisdale but has since fallen by the wayside, and would love to know what's become of the membership. We also hear rumours that anecdotal evidence that re-forming the club may be possible with a few willing volunteers and a helping hand from RYA Scotland, so would love to hear from anyone from South Uist who likes to sail or windsurf, or would like to learn how...

If this posting has stirred your interest, please feel free to contact Western Isles Sailing coordinator Toby Marshall (sdg5@ryascotland.org.uk) to discuss possible next steps, or come along to our next development group meeting, hosted by the Uist Boat Club in Lochmaddy, on 11th and 12th May, where you would be very welcome to come and meet like-minded people from across the Western Isles, and take part in a bit of on-the-water action!

We've been interested in rekindling the sailing club in South Uist but keep coming to a dead end. Any information would be grateful
