Title: MacEachan, Catherine MacAskill (Uisinis & Bahartivagh/South Uist)

Discussion: Hi,
Looking for any descendants of Ewen MacEachan & Catherine MacAskill's daughter Margaret MacEachan (c1825) who married John Cumming (c1833) - married Bornish 1853.
They would be my gggrand uncle & aunt.
Also can anyone tell me where exactly Uisinis & Bahartivagh are please?
Regards,
Anne Marie.

Re- MacEachans in the Lochcarnan area. There was a family of that name in neighbouring Rhugasinish when I was young. Well, one of them anyway. He was Angus and he had two sisters in Glasgow. Kate Sarah, with whom I stayed overnight, on my way to England, and I think the other sister was called Morag.

Hope this information helps in someway.

Kind regards
Michael

Hi Michael,

Thanks for reply. After I posted I remembered where Bahartiva was - was part of Glendale (Eriskay bay area).
Now I know that Lochcarnan is where my MacEachan connection hailed from so thanks. Maybe now that the Lochcarnan area is mentioned, others may check out a connection - well I can live in hope.

Regards,

Anne Marie.

Hi Anne Marie,
When I was a wee lad on South Uist, we sometimes went out from Lochcarnan to the lighthouse fishing, and if my memory serves me right, it was called Uisinish Lighthouse. This is on the east side of the island. Bahartvagh is on south side of the island,in the South Lochboisdale/North Glendale area.

Kind regards
Michael
