Discussion: Hi all ! Thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself.
Like Eoghan, http://www.southuist.com/forum.php?action=readposts&topic_id=651 I’m a bit of a fanatic about presentation so it’ll take me a lot of time to have Microsoft Word correct my all my grammar. Lol !
The following is just a test to see if photos can be added to the chat-room:

My main reason in becoming a member is principally down to genealogy..., or at least, to add some colour to my tree ! Actually, I have no family roots from South Uist, but as my Father was manager of a team of men putting up the first telephone poles across the island just after the war, we lived in Lochboisdale for about a year before moving north. And it’s that old house that interests me the most, not to forget the neighbours and those who used the school. But I’ll have to research a letter before posting.
Before signing off, perhaps I could mention that although I live in the French South of Belgium, (land of chocolates, beer, diamonds and British Army FN weapons) ..., I was a piper in the Pipes and Drums of the 2nd Bn. Scots Guards. I did my Pipe Major’s Course at the castle with P/M John McClellan as instructor.
Thanks for having me..., Iain.
