Travel from Northern Ireland

Title: Travel from Northern Ireland
Posted by: claire ryan on 24-10-2011

Discussion: Hi there I'm looking for some travel information please - What is the best way to travel from Northern Ireland to The Uists?

We are having our honeymoon in South Uist and are hoping to have a honeymoon photo shoot done by a photographer who is moving to Northern Ireland. Any info would be really appreciated.

Thank you
Claire

Would that be Donald Joseph Peteranna?

I'm looking for information about a man I used to work with his name is Donald Peteranna. I worked with Don in the 1970s if you know anything about him I would be glad to hear how he is doing.

Hi Claire

Guess it depends on whether you want to sail or fly. If you fly to Glasgow, you can then fly on to Benbecula. Early booking means you can get a reasonable price (Flybe). Car hire is available from Ask Car hire in Benbecula. There's also MacLennan's. If sailing and taking your own car you might want to think about using the hospcotch tickets - come one way and leave another. Cheaper than buying single journeys and you get to see more of the islands - but a long drive from Skye back to base! Check out Cal Mac website. Shortest road journey would be to Oban - but is longest sea journey.
