Hi, i may help a little here but it may not be possible to locate a grave , as going bach to 1878 it may be possible to have an idea of the locality of where poeople were buried ,but the large majority are unidentified ,and amm nopt certain of any official records although the church books may have something.
However what i do know is that a Peter Stewart lived next door to me in Soyh Boisdale when i was very young and he died around 1957, he was a Merchant Seaman and unmarried ,and i know he had a sister ,.i know the exact spot the thatched house was and could it be he was a great great grandson ? as the name is usually carried down the family line in Island families .
anyway, i could also refer you to a geneologist who has an immense of knowledge of island families where are located by the way ?

Hello Ann Marie. I do not think my MacKinnon side is from SOuth Uist. My father Donald MacKinnon was born on Barra in 1896. His mother was a Buchanan. My South Uist connection is through my mother, Mary MacInnes. She was born 1900, Feb 01. Both my parent came to Canada in or around 1921 and met here in Southern Ontario. They were married in Windsor Ontario. We would have quite a list to add to your collection if indeed we were connected. (11 children in our immediate family. Nice to hear from you and keep in touch. I hope to visit Uist and Barra this summer. John MacKinnon

Hi John,
Can you tell me what your MacKinnon connections are in Uist as I am still gathering info. for my MacKinnon family tree and wondered if you were related? If you or anyone else would like a copy of my report which includes several names which are all Uist connected you can email me at:- annebarr38@hotmail.com
Other names are, Steele, Gillies, MacDonald, MacIntyre, MacPhee, Morrison, Peteranna & Walker. If anyone with a connection with any of these names through "MacKinnon" please get in touch. I am especially interested in any descendants of Angus MacKinnon & Euphemia MacDonald who had at least 5 of a family - all born in Daliburgh, South Uist. Mary- 1856, Neil - 1858, Alexander - 1860, Mary - 1861 (wed Malcolm MacDonald 1904 in Dalliburgh) & Ann - 1863. Any descendants of Penelope MacKinnon & Ewen Walker (wed 1903 in Daliburgh) I would love to hear from any family of the above connections to add to my ever growing tree.
Regards,
Annemarie (nee MacKinnon)
