O'Henly on Eriskay

Title: O'Henly on Eriskay
Posted by: Visby Hildebrand on 16-02-2009

Discussion: Hello from California! I'm looking for the parents of (in the 1841 census) Allan O'Henly & siblings: Malcolm, Donald, Collin, Anny, Jessy and Angus. Confirmation of Jessy, age 55, being their mother would be great. Collin is my Great-Great Grandfather and is on Eriskay in the 1851 census with Malcolm and some of the other siblings. Thank you so much for your help!

Hi,

I know your posting about O'Henley's is quite old so I don't know if you are any further forward but this may help others too.

I done a search through my "Uist" info. & have come up with:-

Allan O'Henley (Milton, South Uist) & Janet MacDonald (North Uist) married 24th May 1836 @ Bornish, South Uist.

Kids I could find:-

Janet b 25 Sep 1836 South Boisdale & baptised March 1838 (could be a transcription error)

Murdo b Jul 1838 S/Boisdale & baptised 19 Jul 1838

Angus b 27 Aug 1839 S/B & baptised 1 Sep 1839

Angus b 22 Dec 1842 S/B & baptised 26 Dec 1842

Often where 2 kids are named the same so close together is an indication of the younger having died in infancy - but take this as fact.

Anne Marie.
