camping at Eriskay, south & north Uist

Title: camping at Eriskay, south & north Uist

Discussion: We are planning our holidays at the moment and I would be really grateful for ideas of places to visit, must see things and one thing that has started to worry me is where we can wild camp in our motorhome. We are looking forward to staying, but I've seen some comments on another forum which are very unwelcoming. We don't want to camp in the wrong places and upset anyone as we are only visitors and I know some campers are untidy and uncaring about where they stay, they get my back up. We're counting the days till our holiday already!

Like Caroline we are very much looking forward to our holiday this summer on North & south Uist & Benbecula. We are hoping to camp and would very much appreciate any local tips on where we can go to make sure we don't upset anyone. As we are in a tent rather than a motor home - does anyone have any other advice to add to Catriona's posting above?

There is a camp site on Benbecula, but generally speaking so long as you are tidy etc etc you can camp on all the Machair's and anywhere that gives you pleasure.
Places to visit, well the whole of Eriskay is breath taking, there is a beach where you can park.
South Uist a walk along the coast at Locheynort is fantastic, and when the sun shines everywhere is beautiful, North Uist take the West road towards Bayhead and follow the road it takes you back round to Lochmaddy, more fantastic scenery.
If you have the time just wonder through each village as they are not miles long.
Enjoy!
